Ares Games, in partnership with DAM Things Game Studio, has announced a new board game project, Viking Route, launching on Kickstarter on December 3rd. This cooperative game, designed for 1 to 4 players, introduces a movement mechanic using a compass and magnets to navigate through a Norse-inspired setting.
In Viking Route, players control a Viking Longship on a scenario board, steering it with the help of magnetic components symbolizing Odin’s ravens and the wind. The game involves resource management and card play as players work to complete quests, encounter Norse creatures, and progress toward an end goal.
Created by designers Martino Chiacchiera, Luca Maragno, and Guido Albini, Viking Route includes quests that can be played independently or in a campaign format. The project will run on Kickstarter through December 20th, 2024, with additional information on the game and campaign expected from Ares Games as the launch approaches.
