Hasbro Joins ‘Monopoly’ to ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Pokemon’

Hasbro has released two Monopoly-style games featuring pop-culture icons:  the MONOPOLY Deal:  Harry Potter card game and the MONOPOLY:  Pokemon Edition board game.

Based on the MONOPOLY Deal card game originally released in 2008, MONOPOLY Deal:  Harry Potter is a faster playing set-collecting card game that features themes from the globally popular series.  Players try to collect three sets of magical items while using spells to disrupt their opponents and help from characters from the world of Harry Potter to earn house points.

MONOPOLY Deal:  Harry Potter is intended for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about 15 minutes.  It includes 111 cards.  MSRP is $6.99.

The MONOPOLY:  Pokemon Edition challenges Pokemon Trainers to catch Pokemon as they explore the land.  This modified kid-friendly version of the classic real estate game features vibrant locations offering wild pokemon.  Poke balls replace the game’s normal currency, and the goal is to be the first Trainer to fill their tracker mat with the required wild Pokemon.

MONOPOLY:  Pokemon Edition was designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up.  It comes with 1 game board, 4 plastic Pokemon miniatures, 4 tracker mats, 50 cards, 2 dice, 48 wild Pokemon chips, and 90 cardboard Poke balls.  MSRP is $24.99.

Hasbro recently earned an FSC Leadership Award for the Life in Reterra game’s sustainability themes and production (see “‘Life in Reterra’ Gets Award for Advancement in Forest Conservation”).
