Mayfair Games has launched Empire Builder: Europe, a new edition of the classic railroad game, onto Kickstarter.
Empire Builder: Europe, originally designed by Darwin Bromley, Steve Courtemanche, and Larry Roznai and released as Eurorails, was first published back in 1990 by Mayfair Games. The classic game has now returned for a crowdfunding campaign via the new and improved Mayfair Games through its Kickstarter arm Mr. B Games and a partnership with Darwin Toys (see “‘Empire Builder Series’ Returns“). This redesigned edition of Eurorails features the same strategic railroad-building mechanics, where players try to connect a network of railways across a map and deliver goods, with an improved map, enhanced Demand cards, and upgraded components such as chips, money, metal trains, and more. The game’s rules have also been rebalanced to make more routes to victory viable.
This game is for two to five players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60-120 minutes. The Kickstarter features a retail pledge level, where retailers can place a $180 deposit for a case of the Retail Edition of the game. The Kickstarter is currently fully funded, and fulfillment is expected in August 2025.
