Harveys: Double Win for ‘Roaming’

Roaming, by cousins Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki, took two Harvey Awards this year, including Book of the Year, and Blacksad, by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido, won the award for Best International Book for the second year in a row.

The 2024 awards were presented on Friday, October 18, in a ceremony held in the Javits Center during New York Comic Con. (see “Nominations for Harvey Awards“). The winners:

Digital Book of the Year:  Friday, by Ed Brubaker and Marcos Martin (Panel Syndicate.

Best Adaptation from Comic Book/Graphic Novel: X-Men ’97, by Marvel Animation and Disney+, based on X-Men (Marvel)

 
Best Young Adult Book: Roaming, by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki (Drawn & Quarterly)

Best Children’s Book: Mexikid, by Pedro Martin (Penguin Random House)

Best Manga: Delicious in Dungeon, by Ryoko Kui, translated by Taylor Engel (Yen Press)

Best International Book: Blacksad, vol. 7, by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido, translated by Diana Schutz and Brandon Kander (Europe Comics)

Book of the Year: Roaming, by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki (Drawn & Quarterly)

As previously announced, five creators were inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame: Akira Toriyama, Larry Hama, John Buscema, Sergio Aragones, and Art Adams (see “Harvey Awards Announce 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees”).

The Harvey Awards Steering Committee is co-chaired by Nellie Kurtzman, John Lind, and Chip Mosher.
