GameStop Becomes an Authorized PSA Dealer

GameStop Corporation has teamed up with Collectors, via their Professional Sports Authenticator division, to become an authorized PSA dealer.

This deal between GameStop and Collectors brings a whole new dimension to GameStop’s retail stores.  GameStop recently entered the business of buying and selling high grade TCG and sports cards via some of their U.S. locations (see “GameStop Begins Buying“).  The agreement with Collectors/PSA allows them now to take in submissions for grading at some of their retail locations.

TCG submissions cost $15.99 per card (depending on declared value) with a $4.99 shipping fee, sports cards cost $19.99 to submit (depending on declared value).  There is no need for a submission form, no card minimum, and no PSA subscription fee required.  Customers will get an e-mail when the graded cards can be picked up at the store, and customers with Pro accounts will get 15% extra cash or credit on graded trade-ins.

This deal is a potential boon for both GameStop and Collectors.  GameStop will be able to more easily beef up its inventory of graded cards, as customers trade them in post-submission, and Collectors should see some level of submission increase via PSA as the process of submission became incredibly easy for casual card graders.
