How to play Truth or Dare

Truth or Dare has to be one of the simplest party games ever created, but it’s also an incredible icebreaker to help groups bond over shared silliness. Here’s how to play:

1. Ensure everyone knows the rules of the game and is comfortable
2. Sit in a rough circle so everyone can see everyone else
3. Going clockwise around the circle, ask each player if they want to tell the group a truth about themselves, or complete a ‘dare’ – usually doing silly or embarrassing challenge, on the spot, to entertain the group!
4. Depending on which choice they make, another player (usually the person who just went) decides on a Truth or Dare question to ask, or a dare to challenge them to.
5. The player on the spot now has to answer their truth, or do the dare! If they refuse, they must complete a forfeit instead. If you’re playing as a drinking game, the forfeit normally involves sinking a shot of something powerful.
6. Repeat until everyone’s very red in the face from laughing.
