Three new manga/manhwa releases top the chart of the Top 20 best-selling Adult graphic novels according to Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for August 2024 (8/4/24 – 8/31/24) provided to ICv2.
The newest volumes of Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, and Solo Leveling take the top three slots on the chart; all three are benefiting from anime, despite the fact that no new episodes are currently being released. The only other August release in the Top 20 is Vol. 3 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu Academy, which, along with Jujutsu Kaisen, was named by Circana’s Kristen McLean as among the fastest growing manga series of the first half of 2024 (see “Book Channel Trends Offer Insights“).
DC Comics’ Compact Comics edition of Watchmen, which debuted on the chart in June but was absent in July, is back again for August; with Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong on the July chart (see “July 2024 Circana BookScan“), this makes the third month in a row that a DC title has made the Top 20.
