GalaxyCon Plans 18 Shows in 2025

GalaxyCon LLC is planning 18 geek culture conventions in 2025, a growing roster that now boasts the most North American shows of any geek culture convention organizer.  The shows are under three different brands: seven of the core GalaxyCon events; six Animate! conventions, for fans of anime, video games, animation, and cosplay; and five Nightmare Weekend events, with horror, gaming, special events, and music.

The expanded roster is the result of announcing three new cities for Nightmare Weekends and two new cities for Animate! Events in June, adding shows in Chicago, Orlando, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Savannah; and announcing New Orleans as a new location for GalaxyCon last month.

Fan Expo lists 16 shows in the next 12 months, including four with listed attendance over 100,000 fans (MegaCon Orlando, Calgary Expo, Fan Expo Denver, and Fan Expo Canada); while the big kahuna in dollars and attendance, ReedPop, has a dozen major shows, including New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, Emerald City, C2E2, and the Pax shows, among others.

ReedPop acquired Florida SuperCon, one of its shows, from GalaxyCon in 2019, leaving the company, founded by Mike Broder in 2006, with five shows in early 2019 (see “ReedPop on the Move“).
