Osprey Games has shared details on the creation of “Undaunted 2200: Callisto,” a new standalone game in the Undaunted series, which is out next week This new entry introduces gameplay on Jupiter’s moon Callisto, where players engage in tactical operations to secure high ground and vital resources using mechs and vehicles.
The development of “Undaunted 2200: Callisto” began in 2021, when designers David Thompson and Trevor Benjamin approached Osprey Games with the concept of expanding the series into a science fiction setting, a direction long requested by fans of the series. The game includes options for solo play and up to four players in team configurations directly within the core game box.
Significant changes in the design include the replacement of modular tiles with fixed boards, aimed at reducing setup time and enhancing player immersion in the game’s environment. The fixed boards are each designed with specific scenarios in mind, featuring detailed illustrations that align with the game’s sci-fi theme.
Artistically, Roland MacDonald continues his work with the series, providing illustrations that maintain the visual style of previous games while integrating new, thematic elements suitable for the futuristic setting. The game introduces gameplay mechanics such as elevation effects on combat and the use of large units like mechs and vehicles, adding complexity and strategic depth.
Undaunted 2200: Callisto is set to release on September 10th in the US and September 12th in the UK. Pre-orders are open.
