Rare 1976 Topps ‘Star Trek’ Wax Box Case Boldly Goes to Auction

Heritage Auctions will put a 1976 Topps Star Trek Wax Box Case onto the block at their September 19, 2024 Non-Sports Trading Cards Showcase auction.

A full case of any non-sports trading card product containing unopened boxes from the 70s is an incredibly rare find, let alone one that features the first series of Star Trek cards. This series of cards highlights the original crew from the Star Trek television series, and each box comes with 36 packs that have 5 cards and a sticker per pack. Average sales for a sealed box of these cards are around $2200 to 2500 on recent eBay auctions; the case has already been bid up to $20,000.

There are also a few other highlights in this auction. There is a 1993 Skybox – The Simpsons Matt Groening DeBart Sketch Card up for sale that is currently up to $1,150. The is also a complete set of 1962 Mars Attacks cards up, and some of the more rare 1977 Star Wars cards in high grades, including a Luke Skywalker sticker card.
