Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more about some of the latest in-game events:
Make a splash as part two of a season-long, four-part event series begins in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games.
Get ready for a second serving of special Tera Raid Battles and mass outbreaks in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet! All season long, you’ll face a variety of challenges such as taking on Tera Pokémon with the Mightiest Mark, encountering Pokémon that don’t normally appear during regular gameplay, and enjoying mass outbreaks where Pokémon that are Shiny or have special marks are more likely to appear.
The latest portion of this four-part event series runs from Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, during which you’ll find Dondozo in 7-star Tera Raid Battles along with mass outbreaks of Tatsugiri. Thanks to Tatsugiri’s Commander Ability and Dondozo’s Order Up move, these two symbiotic Pokémon can work together to dish out some real damage in Double Battles. Read on for more details about this and future events.
This time around, Dondozo with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing at black Tera Raid crystals. The Dondozo appearing during this event has Water as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it! Work together with your friends to topple this powerful Tera Pokémon!
Whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon. To find the Tera Pokémon featured in this event, you’ll also need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. To do so, follow these steps:
- Select Poké Portal in the X menu.
- Select Mystery Gift.
- Select Check Poké Portal News.
To challenge Water–Tera Type Dondozo with the Mightiest Mark, Trainers will need to either complete the postgame events that follow the main story or join a 7-star Tera Raid Battle hosted by a Trainer who has completed those events. This special Dondozo can be caught only once per save data. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Dondozo if you’ve already caught it to obtain other rewards—including significant amounts of Exp. Candy for leveling up your Pokémon, treasures that can be sold at Pokémon Centers, items for improving your Pokémon’s stats, and Water Tera Shards for changing your Pokémon’s Tera Type.
Be warned: Dondozo is certain to put up a tough fight. The endlessly lovable Mimicry Pokémon, Tatsugiri, will be out in full force during this mass outbreak event. Look for Tatsugiri’s various forms in the following locations:
- Paldea – Curly Form Tatsugiri
- Kitakami – Droopy Form Tatsugiri
- Blueberry Academy – Stretchy Form Tatsugiri
Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear during these special mass outbreaks, so don’t miss your chance to find one.
Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location. To participate in mass outbreak events, you will need to download the latest Poké Portal News, as explained above, and install the latest update data for your game.

From Friday, July 26, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, Water–Tera Type Dondozo with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing in 7-star Tera Raid Battles while Curly Form Tatsugiri, Droopy Form Tatsugiri, and Stretchy Form Tatsugiri will be appearing in mass outbreaks across various locations.
During this event, Dondozo with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing at black Tera Raid crystals. The Dondozo appearing during this event has Water as its Tera Type. This special Dondozo can be caught only once per save data. If you caught this Dondozo previously during a Tera Raid Battle event, you cannot catch it again. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Dondozo to obtain other rewards if you’ve already caught it.
This Dondozo may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.

In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• After completing certain postgame events, you’ll be able to find black Tera Raid crystals. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
