Blake Northcott on ‘Barbarella’

Blake Northcott is writing a new Barbarella series for Dynamite Entertainment, and preview pages and covers have been released.  Northcott, who’s written Catwoman, Vampirella, Fathom, and her own creations, is joined on the project by artist Anna Morozova (2000 AD).  Northcott is pledging to honor the original 1960s French comics by Jean-Claude Forest and the film with her new storyline, which kicks off with the title character taking some time off with her alien pet companion when she’s called on to solve a problem with Earth’s oldest colony.

Four covers were announced, by Joseph Michale Linsner, Annie Wu, and Richard Pace, plus a cosplay cover with Rachel Hollon.  The first issue will be released in October 2024.

Two previous Barbarella arcs from Dynamite were written by Sarah Hoyt (see “Preview:  Barbarella: The Center Cannot Hold“).

Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) is in line to direct a film based on the property, with Sydney Sweeney to star (see “Edgar Wright on New ‘Barbarella’“).
