It’s the heart of the summer season in Hollywood, and more news has hit the wire. Time for a round-up!

Warner Bros. Entertainment dropped a trailer for Watchmen Chapters 1 & 2 (see below).  This animated series, an adaptation of the original comic series (see “By the Book“), will be released in 2025.

Max has renewed Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon for a third season, the streamer announced.  This comes just ahead of its June 16, 2024 premiere date for Season 2 (see “‘House of Dragon’ S2“).

Eric Kripke revealed on his X (formerly Twitter) account that The Boys will be ending after its fifth season (see below).  This announcement came days before The Boys Season 4 hit Amazon Prime (see “‘The Boys’ S4 “).

Paramount has cast Paul Giamatti as a villain in Starfleet Academy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  This new Star Trek series, starring Holly Hunter, was ordered in March 2023 (see “‘Starfleet Academy’ Series“).

Adult Swim has officially ordered episodes of the Get Jiro! series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Warner Bros. Animation previously announced that they were developing an adaptation of the graphic novel by Joel Rose and Anthony Bourdain (see “‘Get Jiro’ Series“), but now it seems like the series will be coming to fruition soon.

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are developing a Blue Beetle animated series, according to Deadline.  Miguel Puga will serve as showrunner and director, and Cristian Martinez will pen the script.  The series will follow the lukewarm release of the Blue Beetle movie in 2023 (see “‘Blue Beetle’ Box Office“).
