Top 5: Most Wanted G.I. Joe Classified Figures and Vehicles

Yo Joe June is nearly upon us with the first Hasbro Pulse Fanstream dropping 6/4/24 at 11:00 AM ET. I think we have a good idea of what to expect from this Yo Jo June’s reveals based on all the name only reveals we’ve had over the past few months, but my mind always turns to my most wanted figures at these times just before big reveals.

I’m going to do this one a little differently than usual and instead of just naming off the five characters I most want, inspired by a recent episode of the Full Force Podcast, I’m going to try and pick something from one of the major segments of G.I. Joe Classified products including regular figures, deluxe figures, figure and pet sets, figure and small vehicle, and figure and medium sized vehicle. I’m skipping Haslabs for this one just because I’m never quite sure what would qualify.

Before I start that, one runner up category is something I’d love to see Hasbro expand into doing with small diorama pieces. Somewhat similar to how they made things like Checkpoint Alpha and the Bivouac back in the vintage days, I could go for some backdrop pieces. I’d really like a sort of communication center where Breaker can sit in front of a bank of screens and get information. It wouldn’t have to be too elaborate, just a bunch of screens, a table, and a keyboard to make a nice start on a Joe Headquarters display. Maybe make them so they could be combined into a larger console if you bought two.

5. Regular Figure

My most wanted regular figure at this time is Flash from the original thirteen. He was one of the standouts in that early lineup due to his distinctive red armor padding (well his and Grand-Slam’s distinctive red armor padding) and laser weapon, so while I never had one, I have a ton of love for him based on playing with friends as a kid. The Classified line started with a lot of lasers, but that’s less common now, so I’m ready for a laser trooper and want to complete that original team. We’re so close! He could also be made into a few cool repaints such as Grand Slam and the Brazillian Cobra De Aco which was a Flash repaint with a Snake Eyes head in vac metal. Truly weird and cool.

4. Figure and Pet

There are so many existing figure and pets from the vintage line that I’m sure Hasbro will make eventually like Spearhead and Max and Law and Order, but I most want a Baroness and Ravage figure and pet set similar to the old 2013 SDCC figure. That thing captured my imagination the first time I saw it and the crossovers are getting hot and heavy between these brands so this seems like a perfect time to revisit the idea. I’d love to see an animation style Ravage with all the articulation and paint detail of a Classified figure, sculpted and articulated without the need to transform so he can have a bit more heft and animation accuracy to him. Plus, we need a black Baroness with all the accessories and improved articulation from the Crimson version and this would be a good way to do that. One of my runner’s up was the Cobra dog handler, Night Adder from the Rise of Cobra line. I just like the idea of an Evil Mutt and Junkyard or Law and Order and I’d love it if they made his dog a Doberman.

3. Figure and small Vehicle

Okay, I know Cobra-La is a bridge too far for many Joe fans, but I love the weird organic monsters from Cobra-La, especially their leader, Golobulus. I was fascinated by the colorful figures in that vintage three pack as a kid, plus he’s voiced by Burgess Meredith! Gotta love that. He’s also had a pretty fun run in the new Cobra Commander book from Skybound, actually fighting and hurting Megatron at one point. His figure had a snake-like lower body, but he spends a lot of movie time in this weird floating ball thing that is somewhat like Serpentor’s air chariot, so that’s why I’d like to see him in the figure/vehicle category. I’d love to see the Joe team go to town sculpting all the slimy, moldy, chitinous textures on this guy any way they do him, so I’d take a deluxe figure in just snake mode too.

2. Deluxe Figure

Sorry, I’m still on my Cobra-La BS with this next one. While I think she could make a fine single figure, I’d love a Pythona that came decked out with a bunch of her weird techno-organic devices including her four-headed eel snake thing, acid claw hands, gas bombs, face-huggers and mummifier. Of course I need a soft goods cloak with a plastic hood that gives you her specific triangular shaped hooded look. I’d also like a lowered hood piece similar to what came with th G.I. Joe 60th Anniversary action soldiers so you could have her hood down look as well. Mostly I want the body to feature all her weird swirly twirly designs as sculpted detail.

  1. Figure and Vehicle

If you follow my ramblings on here or elsewhere online, this shouldn’t be a big surprise. Thrasher and the Thunder Machine have been top wants from me from almost day one of G.I. Classified. The Dreadnoks are some of my favorite Joe figures and I cannot complain because they have got a lot of love lately, but a Thunder Machine would be a perfect centerpiece for a Dreadnoks collection. I have seen rumors that it’s coming, but nothing super solid. When I talked to Lenny briefly at SDCC last year about the Thunder Machine he seemed to have a lot of strong ideas about how a Classified version should be done, so that made me hopeful that he’s been working on it. He even mentioned making the thing even more Mad Max styled than the original which sounds intriguing. The Classified VAMP came out so great, so I know they would absolutely kill this. With Thrasher I’ll have completed my childhood collection in Classified form.

Well that’s my top 5 for the moment, I don’t expect to see any of it this month, but maybe SDCC? What do you want more, tell me and yell at me in the comments about Cobra-La!
