Wizards of the Coast updated release details on Bloomburrow, the next Magic: The Gathering Standard booster set.
Bloomburrow, which was teased at MagicCon Chicago (see “‘Bloomburrow’“), will release on August 2, 2024. WotC recently revealed the following Key Dates for retailers to be aware of:
- Distributor Selection and Prerelease Allocation Increase Request Deadline: May 17, 2024
- Scheduling Opens: May 6, 2024
- Promotional Kit Delivery: Beginning July 19, 2024
- Prerelease Date: July 26, 2024 to August 1, 2024
- Official Release: August 2, 2024
- Bloomburrow Starter Kit Release: August 2, 2024
- Commander Party Dates: August 16-22, 2024 & September 6-12, 2024
- Store Championship Dates: August 24, 2024 to September 1, 2024
- Standard Showdown Season: August 2, 2024 to September 19, 2024
- Friday Night Magic Season: August 2, 2024 to September 12, 2024
- Open House Season: September 13-15, 2024
There are two notable changes amongst these dates. First, Open House has moved to the end of the Bloomburrow season. The logic behind this change is that new players learn to play at the end of a season to ready themselves for the next prerelease. The second change is that the Bloomburrow season will offer up two Commander Party events instead of one. This change was likely purely based on the overwhelming popularity of Commander as the format of choice for casual players.
