Kingswood Games Announces Return of Warlord: Saga of the Storm with New Expansion “Into the Accordlands”

Kingswood Games, in partnership with Alderac Entertainment Group, has announced the release of a new edition of the collectible card game Warlord: Saga of the Storm. Titled “Into the Accordlands,” this latest edition marks the game’s return after a twelve-year hiatus and is set to launch through a Kickstarter campaign on May 7th.

Warlord: Saga of the Storm is designed for two or more players who each control an army with the objective of defeating their opponents’ Warlord. The game is distinctive for its action resolution system that utilizes a D20 roll, where players add or subtract modifiers from the die roll to determine the outcome of actions. This system replaces the common resource-based mechanics seen in many other collectible card games with a Rank & File system, where card levels dictate the placement of new cards in the gameplay area.

The upcoming Kickstarter campaign introduces a starter box containing six decks ready for gameplay, each representing one of the game’s factions. This box is designed to cater to both new players and those familiar with the game, providing an accessible entry point to the game’s mechanics.

For returning fans, the new edition includes updated lore, refined game mechanics, and streamlined gameplay experiences. The updated booster boxes are configured to allow players to start drafting games immediately, facilitating quick and easy game setup.

The expansion retains the original collectible card game format and introduces updated artwork for classic cards and improved card frames. Featured artists include Jason Engle, Jeff Menges, Chris Seaman, and Steve Ellis, who have contributed to the visual enhancements of the game.
