Godzilla and Kong hold off Monkey Man to hold on to first place

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

The weekend box office had Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire remaining on top for the second weekend. The movie added $31.7 million to its domestic gross to bring it to $135 million. Internationally, the film added $112 million over the week, nearly doubling its opening gross. There it has earned $226 million for a worldwide gross of a little over $361 million.

Monkey Man debuted in second place with $10.1 million domestically and $2.6 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $12.7 million.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire slipped to third place bringing in $9 million to bring its domestic total to $88.9 million. Internationally, the film add $14.2 million to bring that total to $49.3 million and $138.2 million worldwide.

The First Omen debuted in fourth place with $8.4 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $9.1 million for a worldwide debut of $17.5 million.

Kung Fu Panda 4 slipped to fifth place with $7.9 million to bring its domestic total to $166.1 million. Over the week, the movie added $48.8 million internationally to bring that total to $244.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $410.4 million worldwide.

In comic film news…

Madame Web remained at a little under $43.8 million domestically. Internationally, the film added about $500,000 over the week and has grossed $56 million. The movie sits at $99.8 million.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training remained at $17.6 million domestically. Internationally, the film has grossed $26.6 million. Worldwide the movie has grossed $44.2 million.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom remained steady domestically, the film stands at $124.5 million. Internationally, the film remained at $309.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $434.4 million.

The week’s overall box office success…

Numbers have 28 films earning $85,837,640 from 31,359 theaters. That’s a dip from the previous weekend’s $137,062,331 from 33,879 theaters and 74 films. The average earning was $2,737.26 which is a decrease from the previous weekend’s $4,045.64.
