Awards season is over, time to start over again with a new showbiz round-up!
James Gunn and Peter Safran are planning a Teen Titans live-action movie over at DC Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and have tapped Ana Nogueira to write the screenplay for the movie. Noguiera is also penning the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie starring Milly Alcock (see “‘Supergirl’“).
The newest season of Doctor Who will hit Disney+ on May 10, 2024, according to Variety. This season stars Ncuti Gatwa, as the Fifteenth Doctor (see “‘Doctor Who’ Announced“), and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. Gibson was recently replaced by Varada Sethu in the role of Ruby Sunday for the next season (see “‘Doctor Who’ Star Replaced“).
Lionsgate released a trailer for the reboot of The Crow movie (see below). The new movie stars Bill Skarsgard, FKA twigs, and Danny Huston (see “‘The Crow’“).
Sony Pictures has given the third Venom movie a title, according to Variety. Venom: The Last Dance has also been pushed up to an October 25, 2024 release date from November 8, 2024 (see “Best in Shows — 2024“).
The Batman 2 is getting pushed back from its October 3, 2025 release date, according to Deadline. The date change was likely due to delays cause by the 2023’s Hollywood strikes (see “The Nanny Leads SAG-AFTRA Strike“). It will head to October 2, 2026 (see “Best in Shows — 2026“).
Hayao Miyzaki’s The Boy and the Heron will stream in the U.S. on Max, according to Variety. This is part of a multiyear agreement that extends Max’s exclusive U.S. streaming rights for the Studio Ghibli catalog. The Boy and the Heron recently won an Oscar at the 2024 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature (see “Oscar News“).
