For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is fortunate to feature the art of Alicia Stellar. This talented artist was also a part of the sensational project of Ilustradoras Unidas titled Pokédex Ilustrada.
For Alicia, Art is something that she rediscovered during the pandemic, and it has given her life motivation and a place to heal, grow, and believe in herself.
“I love everything I can experience through art, especially in Illustration. That’s why I am currently studying for a degree so that in the future, I can dedicate myself full-time to it. Illustration is a motivation for me to improve myself daily as an artist and as a person. I can draw and paint all day, concentrate, and enjoy it like no other activity. So, for me, it is a decision of life and happiness,” she explained.
“Pokémon marked my childhood. I was a child when the anime series started airing, and although I’m not an active consumer of the games and cards (I do keep several cards that I like), it is something that is, in one way or another, still present in my life. Recently, Pokémon has allowed me to grow as an artist as well as a way to strengthen my relationship with my brother, who is a huge fan of Pokémon and its games. What I like the most (about the franchise) is the diversity and design of the different Pokémon,” Alicia shared.
Alicia enjoys being able to dedicate herself to both art and Pokémon. She thinks it’s a nice experience.
“Although sometimes, due to my studies, I don’t have enough time for personal projects, ironically, it was from an assignment that I found the motivation to draw the original Pokémon from the first generation. With it came the desire to continue expanding the number of Pokémon in my list of illustrations.”
