Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:
Take on Special Research, event bonuses, and egg-cellent hatching opportunities.
Pokémon GO’s An Instinctive Hero event offers Trainers their moment in the sun as Larvesta, the Torch Pokémon, and Volcarona, the Sun Pokémon, make their debuts. Through May 8, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time, you can enjoy event bonuses, themed Pokémon hatching from Eggs, and Special Research featuring the Team Instinct leader, Spark. Event bonuses will include an increased chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs, and both double XP and double Stardust for hatching Eggs. There’s even more incentive to get hatching—Larvesta, which can evolve into Volcarona with 400 Larvesta Candy, will be able to hatch from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs.
Throughout the event, Pokémon appearing in 7 km Eggs will include the following.
- Mime Jr.
- Happiny
- Mantyke
- Timburr
- Karrablast
- Axew
- Shelmet
- Goomy
Complete Field Research tasks to earn encounters with the following Pokémon.
- Magneton
- Chansey
- Electabuzz
- Magmar
- Snorlax
- Mantine
- Chimecho
The Team Instinct leader, Spark, will guide a Special Research story titled An Instinctive Hero. Complete the research to earn an encounter with an Elekid wearing a Spark-themed accessory. This is the only opportunity to encounter the Electric Pokémon with its stylish accessory this Season, so get charged up to complete this special assignment.

Spark is busy running around with his Elekid, so the Team Instinct leader could use some research support! Get ready to enjoy an all-new event focused on hatching Pokémon—An Instinctive Hero!
Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, Larvesta will be available to hatch from Eggs! You’ll also be able to hatch Shiny Mantyke—if you’re lucky!.

Larvesta and Volcarona debut
Larvesta, the Torch Pokémon, and Volcarona, the Sun Pokémon, will make their Pokémon GO debuts!
Starting with this event, Larvesta will be available to hatch from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs, if you’re very lucky. In addition to Larvesta, the usual Pokémon available in 2k, 5k, and 10k eggs throughout a given Season will continue to hatch from those eggs.

The following Pokémon will hatch from 7 km Eggs. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to hatch Shiny Mantyke—if you’re lucky!
Special Research story—An Instinctive Hero
Special Research featuring the leader of Team Instinct, Spark, will be available! Trainers who complete the research will be rewarded with an encounter with Elekid wearing a Spark-themed accessory! This is the only way to encounter Elekid wearing a Spark-themed accessory during this Season.
Field Research task encounters
Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available. The following Pokémon will be available to encounter when you complete Field Research tasks!
Reminder: Seasonal Special Research—An Everyday Hero
Free Special Research will be available for Trainers throughout Season 10: Rising Heroes! Spend some time helping out Professor Willow to see what surprises you can discover!
The Special Research will be available to claim until the end of Season 10: Rising Heroes on June 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
