Everything you need to know about Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy and Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul in Pokémon Masters EX

Pokémon Masters EX, the strategy and battling game for mobile platforms, is now available for download on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). In celebration of the game’s release, special in-game events and rewards are offered for a limited time.

Lyra disguises herself as a Team Rocket grunt to help catch the Phantom Imaginate. Is Zinnia somehow involved?

Lear’s mystery game is over, but another conundrum has emerged. A vigilante thief known as the Phantom Imaginate is swiping Pokémon. Who’s behind the mysterious moniker? And what’s their motivation? In a bid to lure out the phantom thief, Lyra volunteers to disguise herself as a Team Rocket grunt and teams up with Phanpy for added protection. Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy and Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul are available to scout until May 1, 2023, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Lyra’s under cover alongside her trusty Phanpy, and the two provide stalwart support no matter the situation. This Ground-type support sync pair doesn’t dish out much damage, but they can take a punch thanks to the Defense boosts and Type Resistant effect of Initiate Infiltration! They can also help their allies’ Ground-type moves do more damage by lowering their opponent’s Ground Type Rebuff with Rebuff Reducing Hit (Ground).

Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy’s Rebuff Reducing Hit (Ground) powers up Ground-type moves, and Courtney & Camerupt take that power to the next level with Ground Wish, which turns the field of play into a Ground Zone. With Ground Type Rebuff and a Ground Zone combined, even the weakest Ground-type moves will feel like powerful Earthquakes. Courtney & Camerupt’s Bulldoze and their sync move, Analysis Complete Earthquake, also benefit from the crushing combo. Courtney & Camerupt are available to scout from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs.

Hapu & Mudsdale are one of the longest tenured Ground-type sync pairs on Pasio, and they greatly benefit from Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy’s support. Hapu & Mudsdale’s Mud SlapHigh Horsepower, and Ultimate Worth Tectonic Rage hit that much harder when used against an opponent with a lowered Ground Type Rebuff. Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy can also lower their target’s accuracy with Mud Slap and raise Hapu & Mudsdale’s Defense with Initiate Infiltration! This also increases the benefits Hapu & Mudsdale receive from the Hide and Sync and Tough Cookie sync grid tiles, which power up their sync move the more a target’s accuracy is lowered and power up their moves the more their Defense is raised, respectively. Hapu & Mudsdale can be acquired after completing Chapter 10 of the main story.

Snatch away your opponent’s HP with Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul. This Dark-type tech sync pair is a powerful damage dealer that can lower the Dark Type Rebuff of their opponents with Team Rebuff ↓ Command (Dark) and follow it up with B Night Slash, which activates when there’s at least one Pokémon with a lowered Dark Type Rebuff on the opponent’s field of play. Catch Me If You Can! applies the Stat Reduction Defense effect to the allied field of play, protecting teammates’ stats.

Name (Type) Power Description
Crunch (Dark) 99 Has a chance (20%) of lowering the target’s Defense by one stat rank.
X Attack All n/a Raises the Attack of all allied sync pairs by two stat ranks.
B Night Slash (Dark) 200 Activation Condition:

Never misses. Returns the target’s raised stats to normal, then raises the user’s same stats by the same amount. Except in certain circumstances, successful hits with this attack become critical hits. Applies the No Stat Increases effect to the opponents’ field of play.

Catch Me If You Can! n/a Applies the Stat Reduction Defense effect to the allied field of play. Raises the user’s evasiveness by one stat rank. Raises the user’s critical-hit rate by two stat ranks.

Team Rebuff ↓ Command (Dark) Lowers the Dark Type Rebuff of all opposing sync pairs by one rank the first time the user’s Trainer uses a move each battle.
Unbuffed Foe Freebie 9 Applies the Free Move Next effect to the user when its attack move is successful while none of the target’s stats are raised.
Vigilance Protects the user against critical hits.

The Masked Royal & Incineroar’s Brutal Swing is a Dark-type move that hits all opponents and does extra damage to opponents with lowered Dark Type Rebuffs. The Masked Royal & Incineroar can also raise Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul’s Speed up to six stat ranks with just two uses of Ready…Fight! This extra Speed is key to quickly charging the move gauge and increasing the damage of Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul’s sync move, Steal the Win Dark Impact, which gains power the more Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul’s stats are raised. The Masked Royal & Incineroar are available to scout from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and 5★-Guaranteed Alola Ticket Scout.

Every team in Pokémon Masters EX needs a good supporter, and Hop & Zamazenta are one of the best. Their Trainer move Hop to It! raises the Attack of all allied sync pairs by two stat ranks and boosts Defense and critical-hit rate by one stat rank. Zinnia & Thievul deal physical damage, so the pair benefits greatly from allies that raise their Attack. Hop & Zamazenta can also provide some choice healing with Potion, restoring approximately 40% of an ally’s maximum HP. Hop & Zamazenta can be acquired after completing the Howling Shield of Eternity in the Legendary Adventures section of the main story.
