Mad Cave to Publish ‘Winx Club’ Graphic Novels

Mad Cave Studios has made a deal with Rainbow Group to publish the Winx Club graphic novels. The middle-grade titles will be published under the Papercutz imprint and the young adult graphic novels as part of their Maverick line. The series is set in a magical universe and stars a girl named Bloom and her friends who become fairies when called upon to fight villains.

Winx Club is the perfect match for Maverick & Papercutz.” said Allison Pond, Mad Cave Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement accompanying the announcement. “On the surface, Winx hosts a magical world to be discovered and explored, but at its core Winx reveals to young readers that even a regular ‘Earth Girl’ has access to magical abilities within herself. We hope that readers will find themselves within the pages of these stories, in the same way Bloom finds herself.”

Created by an Italian animator, the Winx Club cartoons premiered in 2004 and came to Cartoon Network the following year (see “Miguzi Adds Winx Club”). At the time, Upper Deck published both a TCG and a comic based on the show. In 2010 Nickelodeon began producing the animated series, which ran on and off through 2019. VIZ Media published the graphic novels in 2012-2013 and cited them as one of their best-selling non-manga properties (see “Interview with Aker and Hamric, Part 2”). A live-action young adult series was produced in 2021-2022 and ran for two seasons on Netflix (see “Live-Action ‘Winx Club’”).
