The Giant Days team of John Allison and artist Max Sarin are teaming up once more for a four-issue miniseries, The Great British Bump-Off, a murder mystery in the vein of Agatha Christie that’s set in the heat of a baking competition. Dark Horse Comics will launch the miniseries on April 12, and the first issue will have a main cover by Sarin and a variant by Dan Hipp. The collected edition will be released on November 1.
The sleuth in The Great British Bump-Off is Shauna Wickle, who was one of the lead characters in Allison’s Bad Machinery, a series about middle-schoolers who solve supernatural mysteries. In The Great British Bump-Off, she joins a baking competition but when another contestant is poisoned, she has to do double duty, figuring out who the culprit is while avoiding being eliminated from the contest via poison or other means.
Allison and Sarin’s Giant Days took home the 2019 Eisner Awards for Best Continuing Series and Best Humor Publication (see “First Second Takes Most Eisners”).
