Gen Con Drops Proof of Vaccination Requirements and Masks for 2023

Gen Con LLC. has announced that they have dropped vaccination and mask requirements for Gen Con 2023.

As the pandemic is in its waning hours, Gen Con organizers are taking a step towards returning convention operations closer to how they were pre-pandemic. They will not require convention goers to submit proof of vaccination or wear a mask at Gen Con 2023, which are a set of safety protocols that have been in place since 2021 (see “Safety Protocols“). Organizers still encourage that attendees be vaccinated and reserve the right to change this policy, should the conditions arise that would warrant doing so. They will monitor the Marion County Department of Public Health and the CDC for recommendations for appropriate safety measures as the convention draws nearer.

Gen Con organizers also posted key dates for the convention. Badges can be purchased on January 29, 2023 at noon ET, and a 4-Day badge will cost $135 and a Trade Day badge costs $235. There will also be a free Gen Con Online-only badge available on May 7, 2023 for fans who want to attend the virtual convention. Additionally, housing registration will be open on February 12, 2023 at noon ET and event registration opens on May 21, 2023 at noon ET.
