I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs in one form or another since I was 15 years old. For most of that time, I’ve been the Dungeon Master. Some people languish under the title of “forever DM,” but I love it. I love telling stories to my friends, who can participate in them. I relish building worlds and cultures for people to enjoy and explore, and I delight in running the game and getting to play different monsters, villains, and unique NPCs for my players to hate, battle, and laugh at.
The World of Lien: Last Light of Creation is the product of about eight years of work. I’ve taken aspects of my favorite fantasy settings, Dragon Age, Lord of the Rings, Legend of Dragoon, and others, to create a setting all my own. Lien is an exciting place where spirits of any object or concept can exist, demons hustle mortals for their eternal souls, and the singular god of the realm strains just to keep the lights on.
Jaded creatures called Viingal struggle to scrape out a living in society, all the while remembering the echo of a memory that they were a great people once. Massive goblinoid Malaar march together, off to another battle for the masters that created them, with a song of war in their hearts and a small yearning for something more.
Joriin, the “chosen people,” dominate the world with their diverse cultures. Not elves or humans, but both at once. Dwarves hammer away under Krazmodan mountain, halflings enjoy a peaceful puff on their pipes after a warm meal, and gnomes tinker away alone in their huts at the edge of town.
The campaign is up and running now with 17 days left to go.
