Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:
Familiar Pokémon, featured attacks, and event bonuses make for an eventful Community Day 2022 finale.
Pokémon GO Community Days offer opportunities for Trainers to catch exciting Pokémon, earn lots of Candy, teach their Pokémon featured attacks without having to use an Elite TM, and benefit from incredible event bonuses. Pokémon GO’s December Community Day event on December 17 and 18 is taking all of those incredible benefits to the next level by featuring Pokémon from Community Days throughout 2021 and 2022. This means that Trainers who may have missed a Community Day over the last two years get another chance at catching some favorites.
From 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on December 17 and 18, 2022, the following event bonuses will be in effect.
- 2× XP for catching Pokémon
- 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon
- 1/2 Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators during the event period
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
- 2× chance for Trainers Level 31 and above to receive Candy XL for catching Pokémon
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours
- One additional Special Trade for a maximum of two per day
- Trades made during the event will require 50% less Stardust
Different Pokémon will appear each day, so we hope you’ll join us both days! On December 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Trainers can encounter the following Pokémon in the wild.
- Sandshrew
- Alolan Sandshrew
- Alolan Geodude
- Hoppip
- Spheal
- Stufful
The following day, December 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Trainers can encounter the following wild Pokémon.
- Teddiursa
- Galarian Zigzagoon
- Starly
- Roggenrola
- Litwick
- Deino
Lucky Trainers might encounter Bulbasaur, Dratini, and/or Mudkip on either day.
Pokémon featured in 2021 Community Days will hatch from 2 km Eggs. Get hatching to add the following Pokémon to your collection!
- Machop
- Eevee
- Swablu
- Duskull
- Shinx
- Budew
- Gible
- Snivy
- Tepig
- Oshawott
- Fletchling
Of course, one of the best parts of any Community Day is the opportunity to teach your Pokémon featured attacks that might otherwise require an Elite TM. The December Community Day event will feature not one, not two, but 15 featured attacks! Evolve these Pokémon on December 17 or 18 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time to learn the following featured attacks.
- Evolve Ivysaur to get a Venusaur that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant

To get an Ursaluna that knows the Charged Attack High Horsepower, evolve Ursaring during a special full moon. The full moon will be in the sky from December 17 at 2:00 p.m. to December 18 at 6:00 a.m., and again on December 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
For Trainers who participate in the GO Battle League, it’s worth noting that Draco Meteor, Frenzy Plant, Hydro Cannon, Icicle Spear, and Obstruct are all extremely popular moves. It’s well worth catching and evolving Pokémon with these moves to climb the ranks.
And if all that wasn’t enough to keep you busy, the Community Day Special Research story December Community Day 2022 is available for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
