Black Adam exceeded expectations and gave the box office a much needed juice. The film opened with a reported $67 million, a bit higher than initial predictions. The film also earned an estimated $73 million at the international box office to deliver a worldwide opening of $140 million.
That opening is better than Shazam! which saw $53.5 million its first weekend domestically, The Suicide Squad‘s $26 million opening, and Wonder Woman 1984‘s $16.7 million. The latter two also opened during the pandemic.
