First Look at Humanoids’ New ‘Incal’ Stories

Humanoids is releasing previews of two of its three graphic novels set in Alejandro Jodorowsky’s science fiction universe from The Incal, and a teaser for the third in its Free Comic Book Day comic, and ICv2 has a look at the first of the three releases in the gallery below. In addition to the previews, the FCBD comic includes an introduction to the world of The Incal.

Humanoids has announced three new titles set in the Incal universe: The Incal: Psychoverse, by Mark Russell and Yanick Paquette; The Incal: Dying Star, by Dan Watters and Jon Davis-Hunt; and The Incal: Kill Wolfhead, by Brandon Thomas and Pete Woods.

The Incal: Psychoverse will be published on November 15 as a 120-page hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99. Details on the other two books is not yet available.

The original Incal saga, a collaboration between Jodorowsky and Jean Giraud (a.k.a. Moebius), followed the adventures of John Difool, a human in a dystopian future world who discovers a powerful ancient artifact, the Incal, that propels him into a series of cosmic adventures. Humanoids has published The Incal in several formats, including deluxe hardcovers and a single paperback volume (see “Softcover ‘Incal’ Collection”). Writer and director Taika Waititi is working on a film adaptation (see “Taika Waititi on ‘The Incal’”).

“Four decades after its publication, the world of The Incal remains a shock to the system and a transcendent work,” said Humanoids CEO Fabrice Giger in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This new Incal Universe project, to which Alejandro Jodorowsky has given his blessing, will open the door for a new generation of readers to discover all new adventures featuring John Difool, the Metabaron, Kill Wolfhead, and the Incal.”
