One-Shot Reveals the Story of the Prehistoric Avengers, Connects them to Present Day
Marvel Comics will take the Avengers’ origin story back to the very beginning with the one-shot Avengers: 1,000,000 B.C. #1, written by longtime Avengers scribe Jason Aaron with art by Kev Walker. The story centers on the Prehistoric Avengers, whom Aaron introduced in his original Avengers run, and fill in the details of their lives, their backstories, and how the events they experienced influence the Avengers of the present day. The book will also tie in to the upcoming Judgment Day saga, which will launch later this year (see “Marvel’s Next Big Event Will Be ‘Judgment Day’”). Avengers: 1,000,000 B.C. #1 will go on sale on July 13 with a main cover by Ed McGuinness and a variant cover by Alex Horley.
“The Prehistoric Avengers have been an important key to my Avengers run since the very beginning,” Aaron said in a statement accompanying Marvel’s announcement. “They are the earliest versions of some of the earth’s most powerful legacy characters. They’re the heroes who protect the Marvel Universe in its crib. Now, we finally get to see them all in the spotlight in a huge way, in a story that shows how these prehistoric heroes shaped Marvel history in the most profound ways and that will also have big ramifications for the Avengers going forward.”
