Games Workshop announced that they are raising their prices across multiple product lines, including Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, and more. This price increase will take effect for U.S. retailers on March 7, 2022.
The price increases were declared in response to the rising costs of electricity, gas, raw materials, shipping, and the general inflation occurring in many parts of the world. GW reported that their price increases on their products will mostly be around 5%. However, for certain products, like books, scenery, and resin miniatures, the price increase could be upwards of 10% and on Blood Bowl teams and metal miniatures, the price could go up around 20%.
There were several product types that were spared this price hike, which include the following:
- Paint and paint sets
- Brushes and tools
- Most Warhammer Starter Sets, including: Getting Started With Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Getting Started with Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar Warrior Starter Set, Warhammer Age of Sigmar Harbinger Starter Set, Warhammer 40,000 Elite Edition, Warhammer 40,000 Recruit Edition, Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Starter Set, Warhammer Underworlds: Starter Set, and Warhammer Underworlds: Harrowdeep
There were also a few areas of the world that managed to escape this price increase because of currency exchange rates. The currencies excluded from this price increase were Australian dollars, New Zealand dollars, Japanese yen, and the China RMB.
Games Workshop recently announced three new skirmish games, which will be released in 2022 (see “Three New Skirmish Games“).
