The Skrulls, the shapeshifting aliens who took center stage in Marvel’s Secret Invasion event back in 2008, will return in a new limited series later this year, according to IGN.
Incredible Squirrel Girl writer Ryan North will write the five-issue limited Secret Invasion series, and the artist will be Francesco Mobili (Daredevil). This comic is not a sequel; although the 2008 event will not be wiped away and the characters will remember what happened. The new series stands alone as a complete story.
The news comes as Disney+ is working on an adaptation of the 2008 Secret Invasion series, starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (see “‘Secret Invasion,’ ‘Ironheart,’ and ‘Armor Wars’ Disney+ Series”).
Secret Invasion was an eight-issue limited series that tied in with several other comics to tell the story of the shape-shifting Skrulls who invaded the Earth and impersonated a number of superheroes (see “Secret Invasion”).
