Regirock Pokémon GO Raid Battle Tips: Which Pokémon to use in a Regirock Raid, how to make the most of Premier Balls and Berries, and what to do with Regirock once you’ve caught it

The Pokémon Company International has revealed new official tips for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Appearing in Raids: February 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to February 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time

Last Appeared in Raids: July 18, 2021

Regirock is a Rock-type Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region. Regirock’s body is comprised entirely of rocks with no sign of a brain or heart; it is a mystery even to modern scientists. Learn which Pokémon will be most effective in Raid Battles against Regirock, how to catch Regirock after winning a Raid Battle, and how best to use the Rock Peak Pokémon after you’ve caught it.

As a Rock-type Pokémon, Regirock is vulnerable to Water-, Grass-, Fighting-, Ground-, and Steel-type attacks. When choosing six Pokémon for your Regirock Raid Battle lineup, it helps to choose Pokémon that have a Fast Attack and Charged Attack of one of these types if you want to deal as much damage as possible. A Pokémon that shares a type with these attacks will benefit from a same-type attack bonus, which will allow these attacks to deal an additional 20% damage.

If you have multiple Pokémon that know Water-, Grass, Fighting-, Ground-, or Steel-type attacks, choose the Pokémon with the highest CP and best overall stats. Remember that speed of victory affects how many Premier Balls you will receive at the conclusion of a successful Raid Battle, so bring your strongest Pokémon and defeat Regirock as quickly as possible.

After a successful Regirock raid, you’ll have a limited number of Premier Balls you can use to catch Regirock, so make each one count. You can earn extra Premier Balls by battling with friends and defeating Regirock more quickly.

In an encounter with Regirock, your chance of catching it is greatest when the target ring is small enough for you to score Excellent Throws. Throwing Curveballs can improve your chances even more. But work within your abilities—if you don’t think you can reliably make Excellent Curveball Throws, aim for Nice Throws or Great Throws rather than risk missing the target ring completely.

Regirock isn’t going to make it easy on you by sitting still while you’re trying to catch it. Don’t waste your Premier Balls by throwing while it’s moving around. Watch Regirock to get a feel for its cycle of movement and the pauses in between the cycles. During one of these pauses, wait for the target ring to reappear, and then throw as it starts to grow smaller to increase your odds of making a Great Throw or an Excellent Throw.

Berries can help you catch Regirock. A Razz Berry will make Regirock easier to catch, and a Golden Razz Berry will make it much easier to catch. If you find yourself failing to land any throws, a Nanab Berry will calm Regirock, making its movements less erratic and allowing you to make precise throws more easily. If you need extra Regirock Candy, using a Silver Pinap Berry will make Regirock easier to catch and grant you extra Candy when you catch it.

Buddy Pokémon with a Buddy Level of Great Buddy or higher have the Catch Assist Perk. If a Pokémon—even a Legendary Pokémon—deflects a Poké Ball, your buddy might bounce it back for a second catch opportunity!

Like all Legendary Pokémon, Regirock is tricky to catch, so don’t be discouraged if it escapes. Get a second wind by stocking up on useful items—like Max Potions, Max Revives, and Golden Razz Berries—and try again.

Regirock’s Initial CP Range: 1,703–1,784

Regirock’s Initial CP Range with Weather Boost: 2,129–2,230

Available Fast Attacks: Lock-On (Normal), Rock Smash (Fighting), Rock Throw (Rock)

Available Charged Attacks: Earthquake (Ground), Focus Blast (Fighting), Stone Edge (Rock), Zap Cannon (Electric)

As a Rock-type Pokémon, Regirock has a type advantage against Fire-, Ice-, Flying, and Bug-type Pokémon and is resistant to Normal-, Fire-, Poison-, and Flying-type Pokémon. Regirock is one of the rare Legendary Pokémon that can be used across all three Pokémon GO Battle Leagues. While Regirock is competitive in the Great League, any Regirock caught this February will have a CP above the 1,500 Great League maximum. Luckily, the excess Regirock Candy you can acquire through multiple raids can be used to teach a Regirock with a lower CP a second Charged Attack.

Choosing the right moves is an essential part of Trainer Battles. While Lock-On doesn’t deal a lot of damage, this Fast Attack does power up Regirock’s Charged Attacks quickly. And you’re going to need it—because while Regirock’s Charged Attacks deal substantial damage, they require a lot of energy to use. For this reason, Regirock might not be the best starting Pokémon in Trainer Battles. Save Regirock until an opponent’s Protect Shields are gone before unleashing the wrath of this mountainous Pokémon.

For your Charged Attack, Stone Edge benefits from a same-type attack bonus, thus making it an excellent option. A second Charged Attack will make your Pokémon more effective in battle, and Focus Blast is the ticket to keeping your opponents on their toes. This Fighting-type Charged Attack is a sound counter to Steel-type Pokémon, one of Regirock’s weaknesses.

If you’re aiming to bring Regirock to the GO Battle League, you should increase its CP and teach it a second Charged Attack. Raising Regirock’s CP to its maximum requires a lot of Regirock Candy and Stardust, so try to catch as many Regirock as possible to help you get there faster—and don’t forget the Pinap Berries!

Good luck with your next Raid Battle, and remember to check back to Pokemon.com/Strategy for more Pokémon GO, video game, and Pokémon TCG tips.
