Writer Jeff Lemire and artist Andrea Sorrentino will launch a new shared horror universe, The Bone Orchard Mythos, that will feature stand-alone but interconnected stories told across a variety of different formats. Image is the publisher for the project.
The story will begin with The Passageway, a standalone original graphic novel that follows a geologist who travels to an isolated lighthouse to look into a strange phenomenon. The book will be released in hardcover format on June 15, 2022 to the direct market and June 22 to bookstores. Next up will be Ten Thousand Black Feathers, a miniseries that will launch in Fall 2022, followed by another graphic novel, Tenement, slated for 2023.
“We are planning a vast mythology of horror stories that will last for years to come,” Lemire said in the announcement from Image Comics. Sorrentino has already begun the artwork for The Passageway and the other two projects have been plotted.
Lemire and Sorrentino are also the creative team for Primordial, which launched in September from Image (see “Jeff Lemire to Launch Two New Series in September“).
