Pokémon GO is being updated to a new version across all capable iOS and Android devices. The latest update is being rolled out to iOS and Android devices, respectively. According to patch notes from the development team at Niantic, the latest update implements various bug fixes and improvements for an overall smoother experience.
What’s New in Version 1.189.0 (iOS)
Trainers, there’s always something new in Pokémon GO!
– From November 5, 2021, to November 14, 2021, celebrate light overcoming darkness with an all-new event, Festival of Lights!
– Visual changes have been added to indicate when either your Pokémon storage or Item Bag is full. The center of the Poké Ball menu icon will turn orange when your Pokémon storage is full and revert to gray when storage space is made available. Also, when you view your Pokémon storage or Item Bag, the total number will appear in red when either is at capacity.

- Fixed an issue where tapping on a wild Pokémon while having the “Walk 2km” task caused a “Streak broken!” notification to flash on the screen
- Fixed an issue where some shiny Shadow Pokémon were not viewable in the Pokédex
- Fixed an issue where game would freeze if you backgrounded the app before and after the Charged Move minigame
- Fixed an issue where the evolved form of the shiny Pokémon would display in the preview even if a Trainer has not evolved that shiny Pokémon before
- Fixed an issue where navigating to the Pokédex entry of a Mega-Evolved Pokémon showed Bulbasaur no matter which Pokémon had been selected
- Made Veteran and Ace Trainer medals more visible on the summary screens
- Fixed an issue where sometimes the Gym background texture would disappear when a Trainer re-entered a Raid or Gym battle
- Added a thousands delimiter to Furfrou’s Form Change Stardust requirement
- Fixed an issue where the male gender icon would show as available for Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu
- Fixed an issue where sometimes Premier Balls would not load during a post-Raid encounter
- Fixed an issue where Professor Willow would sometimes have the incorrect dialogue when two outstanding choices for Special Research were available simultaneously
