Simon & Schuster and Marvel Comics revealed How to Create Comics the Marvel Way, a new instruction book, into retail on July 5, 2022.
Mark Waid has been in the comics industry for over three decades in multiple roles including a writer, an editor, and a publisher (see “Waid Takes Over as Humanoids Publisher“). Now, he has written a primer about the creative process behind making comic books, much akin to how Stan Lee wrote Stan Lee’s How to Draw Superheroes. This book provides advice and detailed descriptions of various stages of the comic book production process. It also covers how comic illustration has been changed via digital technology and evolved the Marvel’s style over time.
This 176-page book features Marvel characters in pencil roughs, finished pencils, inks, colors, and other stages of production. It will retail for $25.99 in hardcover.
