Registration Open for Local Comic Shop Day

ComicsPRO has opened registration for Local Comic Book Day, which will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. This is the second year in a row that it is being held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (see “Local Comic Shop Day 2020 Will Be Different”). Three special LCSD items have been announced so far:

Joy Operations 1, by Brian Michael Bendis, the first of Bendis’s creator-owned Jinxworld titles to be published by Dark Horse Comics (see “Bendis Moving Creator-Owned Titles to Dark Horse”). Stephen Byrne is the artist for this comic, which is set 55 years in the future and features a special agent named Joy.

Chuck D Presents Apocalypse 91 Revolution Never Sleeps, from Z2 Comics, a graphic anthology that is conceived as a sequel to the Public Enemy album Apocalypse #91: The Enemy Strikes Back. The book is a collection of speculative fiction stories by Evan Narcisse, Regine Sawyer, Che Grayson, Troy-Jeffrey Allen, and others, and will have a special cover for LCSD.

Metallica Special Edition, a graphic biography of the band from 10 Ton Press, reissued to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s Black Album.

While comic shops can order the special LCSD items without registering, ComicsPRO recommends that they do register in order to get the benefit of the marketing push as well as being included in the map of participating stores. Retailers will also get a reminder when it’s time to order the special items.
