Warhammer+ Five Other Shows That Have Us Excited

Warhammer + is out and we’ve devoured the animations. Now we’re waiting for the next batch.

We’ve been pretty happy with the content from the Warhammer+ shows we’ve seen so far. Angels of Death is a “must watch” for any Blood Angels fans out there. Hammer and Bolter is a cool anthology series and we’re excited to see other stories told in different styles. But those are just the Vanguard of Warhammer+ shows – there’s a lot more on the way.

That said, we’re not 100% sure what to expect from each offering – but we’ve got a list of ones that are certainly going to have our attention when they do launch.

Astartes II

From a fan film project, to a fan series, to an official Games Workshop project. Astartes has had a cool journey. This is probably the top of the charts when it comes to what fan films can be. Regardless of what GW’s policy is now, this series made enough noise that GW took note. We’re excite to see what happens next in this mini-series and how being official GW material has changed. Astartes II has a lot to live up to – and we can’t wait to see how this one turns out.

The Exodite

T’au and Aeldari are about to have themselves a bit of a dispute. We like the look of how this one is put together and we’re pretty hyped about it. While the animation looks cool we’re also really looking forward to seeing how GW explores this story and which side of this conflict we’ll get to see first hand. Will it be more of a T’au point-of-view or Aeldari? Maybe it will shift back and forth. Who’s the “Bad Guy” in this situation or are we about to have a whole “there is no bad guy, only shades of grey.” I mean, we all know that the real answer is “kill the xenos, for the Emperor” and all, but still…it’s one show we’re very curious about.

Interrogator

Focusing closely on a Inquisitorial Agent whose boss has died, we’re looking forward to this Grimdark Noir-style show. The concept of a detective story set in the 40k universe just sounds interesting. GW can really mess around with exploring a very different and more directed part of the universe and that sounds intriguing. One of the things that have always interested me personally has been the idea of what life for the non-combatants in the Grimdark would be like. This is a narrow slice of that life – and we’re still going to have lots of room for action and exploration of the world.

Blacktalon

This series (we think) focuses on Neave Blacktalon. She’s been a character in the Mortal Realms for a while and she’s made a name for herself there. She’s a member of the Stormcast Eternals and this series has some potential to really shed some light on things. We’re curious as to how GW is planning on portraying this character – as both a woman and a member of the (almost) immortal Stormcast Eternals.

Coming back from the dead in the reforging process is supposed to really do a number on a person’s psyche as each time you lose a little bit of yourself. This could be a cool aspect to explore – and also gives the Stormcasts a reason to fight hard NOT to die and be reforged. And that’s just one aspect of the show they can dive into. The scope of this series could be as wide as the whole of the Mortal Realms or shine with laser beam focus on a heroic member of the Stormcast Eternals and we’re here for that story!

Iron Within

Look, we know this show is going to feature some heroes from the Astra Militarum and that’s great and all…but we’re here for the Chaos Marines. We want to see these bad guys in action, popping off bolter rounds and making quick work of their foes. If that happens to be hordes of faceless AM Guardsmen, so be it. That said, the teaser referred to a third part that might also be involved in the battles of the show. We’re hoping to see the Iron Warriors battling all sorts of foes and we can’t wait!

There’s lots more on the way from Warhammer+ so what are you looking forward to?
